Homps Cultural Association Hosts American Marques Vickers Painting and Sculpture Exhibition
The French Cultural Association “Homps Nostré Païs” for the village of will be hosting a painting and sculptural exhibition for Californian artist Marques Vickers on Saturday, March 25th at the Mille-Club Auditorium. Located on the Rue du Stade in the French village of Homps from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, the show will feature over twenty figurative paintings and three full length wood carved sculptures. Admission is complimentary to the public.
The exhibition is Vicker’s initial French presentation since relocating to the Southern Languedoc region in June of 2005. The theme of the show will be entitled “The Dream Woman and the Dance”.
“I’m very enthusiastic to introduce my work to the region and honored to be showcased exclusively by Homps Nostré Païs,” noted Vickers. “Homps is a gorgeous village located adjacent to the Canal du Midi and supports a large international expatriate community, particularly from Great Britain.”
“My style,” explains Vickers, “is the passion of transitional movement symbolized by dance. Vibrant color is an integral component of my design and creates a harmonious and spontaneous menage. The opportunity to showcase a large body of work oriented around the theme of dance should create a powerful and passionate visual impression.”
Vickers, born and raised in Vallejo, California (20 miles north of San Francisco) is a contemporary artist specializing in the female form and particularly in dance figures. A graduate of Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles, Vickers is the author of the book “Marketing and Buying Art Online” (Allworth Publishing, New York City) and currently syndicating a print media column “An American in the French Languedoc” (www.AmericanLanguedoc.com) based on his present life in rural southern France.
