Bound in full calf leather with gold gilted embossing on the spines, marbled boards. With illustrations, facsimiles and fold out stage directions. Some rubbing to extremities and general wear to boards, foxing throughout all volumes and pages mostly uncut, otherwise in good condition.

This fourth edition by Johnson and Steevens, revised and augmented by Isaac Reed, is generally known as "Steevens’s own edition" and is by many considered to be the most accurate of all eighteenth-century editions.
